2015 CARNEGIE TAXONOMY

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

In 2005, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Higher Education instituted a new Basic Classification taxonomy of higher education institutions. Since the 2005 Delaware Cost Study, we have utilized this classification grouping for Research Universities, Doctoral Universities, Comprehensive (Master’s) Colleges and Universities, and Baccalaureate Colleges. These classifications were updated in 2010 and again in 2015. The new classifications are based on data collected by the Carnegie Foundation for the Fall 2014, therefore, since the 2015 Delaware Cost Study looks at Fall 2014, Fiscal Year 2014-15 we have updated our Carnegie Classifications to reflect the new taxonomies.
