Plans for The Cost Study After the 2024 Cycle

December 9, 2024

One of the major benefits of The Cost Study is the ability to benchmark cost and productivity data against national norms and peers. The Higher Education Consortia’s goal for The Cost Study has always been to build a robust dataset of four-year colleges and universities so that the comparative reports can provide substantial value to participants.

However, over the past decade, due to multiple factors in higher education, the number of participants in The Cost Study has slowly declined to unsustainable levels. As a result, after careful consideration, the Higher Education Consortia and senior leadership at the University of Delaware have made the difficult decision to discontinue The Cost Study after the conclusion of the 2024 cycle. The 2024 cycle will continue as usual, and final reports will be available in July 2025.

Additional guidance regarding data access and storage will be made available to participants throughout spring 2025.

We would like to thank all of our participants for being trusted partners of The Cost Study and the Higher Education Consortia. We have truly enjoyed serving our member institutions and the higher education community for the last 27 years.
